CR Auto Engineering has been working on engines from our Aston workshop since the 1970s. The vehicles have changed beyond recognition. The way we work has not.
Our story
Five decades of engine work from the same Aston workshop, by people who understand engines from the inside out. That experience is the reason we can look at a job and tell you straight away what it needs and what it will take.

What does CR Auto Engineering do?
We are engine specialists based in Aston, Birmingham. We recondition and rebuild engines, supply and fit new engines, skim and pressure test cylinder heads, remove seized and snapped glow plugs, and carry out ECU remapping. All of it is done in our own workshop, and we have been doing it for over 50 years.
Do you work on all makes and models?
Yes. We work on petrol and diesel engines across all makes and models, including cars, vans and light commercial vehicles.
Where are you based?
Our workshop is in Aston, Birmingham, easy to reach from across the West Midlands including Solihull, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Coventry.
Is all the work carried out in-house?
Yes. The strip, the machining, the rebuild, the remap and the road test all happen in our own workshop. That means one team who know your vehicle and one point of contact from your first phone call to the moment you collect it.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. Our work is covered by warranty, and full terms are available on request.
My engine has failed. Do I need a recondition or a replacement?
It depends on the damage. Sometimes reconditioning your existing engine is the better answer, sometimes a new engine makes more sense. Tell us what has happened and we will give you an honest view of the right option for your vehicle.
Can you help if another garage has diagnosed a problem?
